GUILLOTINE

Just so you know, I didn’t keep a thing

Not a rock, not a lock, not a stocking, not a secret, not a ring

I wanted you to go clean

Not a blot or spot or tangle of your dark unmangled hair in the machine

They say for fifteen seconds from the cutting edge you see the whole world from the other side

Yeah for fifteen seconds from the cutting edge you never felt so alive

I wanted you to come clean

Like a comet ’cross the summit of my mind’s horizon, something never seen

Like a guillotine

They say for fifteen seconds from the cutting edge you see the whole world from the other side

Yeah for fifteen seconds from the cutting edge you never felt so impossibly alive

I wanted you to come clean

Not a blot or spot or tangle of your dark unmangled hair in the machine

Like a guillotine
