Solace in the yard Emptied out the pool Standard issue belief in something new Couldn't figure it out So it's back to the house For good Nothing gets away Nothing good can stay Nothing pushing the bounds Slowed down in the rain Getting into the back of a cab Disappeared for days Someone said to just keep moving on And when you've circled round the block To still be of the world is harder than it is to sell it off And with the groundswell underneath Pick up the pieces and you'll see It wasn't built to last Run aground Come apart In the morning try to find your way back to the car And try to say you used to know Some kid who wiped out half a mile from home The way's the same but you don't remember how it goes Someone said to just keep moving on Until you've circled round the sun You find you're holding on to what you can but can't beat a return And with the groundswell underneath Pick up the pieces and repeat And looking back I thought I saw Your headlights wound onto the street You said you feel it coming round again Been tearing at the seams You laid your head down on the sand I guess the water was too deep And I'll keep looking to the back But there'll be nothing left to see
