Safe Is

Yo man where we going? (I don't know)

When we coming back? (I don't know that either)

How we getting there? (Man just come on)

When we leaving? (Yesterday)

I put a piece of me in a metaphorical safe

So I could be mentally and emotionally safe

Finishing what was tough and at the same time great

Or maybe it was like hell and I realized late

See, when you see levels of greatness

And travel from places, to some war torn places

The countless games of cards, spades, and aces

Dust devils hot sun beams and blazes

Some returned and didn't remember what grace is

Favor from the Son, plasma and plates

Eyed an enemy's eyes filled with hatred

Suffered so many disgraces

The eyes, butchered minds on a many a faces

Struggling to with normal human races and relations

Hoping not to take friendly fire from a racist

Hideous memories attempting many erases

Some were in caskets with flags that draped it

Suicide, made it home, but still didn't make it

A dear John or Jane, the house was vacant

It was a weighted wait and they couldn't take it

Ohh

What the -?

Forgive them so you can heal

Scrambling for the intimate bits and traces

Silver linings and laces

They wondering if it's you, or who it is that sadly replaces

Seeking to find that homeostasis

Not catching cases

Sleeping and eating on a regular basis

The home cooked meal, couldn't wait to taste it

I put a piece of me away

Cherish the family time, and please don't waste it

Finally at home, and I remember where safe is

Those that did make it back but struggle with -
