8 AM I’m still in bed

Birds are nesting on my head

8 AM I’m punching in

To the same old day again

Thought Groundhog Day already passed But February came right on back

Seems the axis is spinning fast

Because this year’s shorter than the last Well, I guess that that’s the grind

Watching days and months roll by

8 AM and I’m depressed

Full of stimulants and stress

Life a race seems I’m in fifth Thought I’d be first at 26 Nashville nothing ain’t got the ring That it had at 17

Well, I guess they call that doubt Maybe I’m just burning out

8 AM and all I see

Is time and space towering over me Close my eyes and take a breath Most things are better left unsaid

I’ll just pour myself another glass Raise a cheers to another lap
