I got word, granddad died

I drove down to his work site

Walked straight out that mine

Blowing coal dust out his nose

Dragging Earnest Bean

He flashed his witty smile at me

He shook the fatal cave-in off

Like the black filth on his clothes

He was a mighty muscle mass of a man

I was proud to call him my granddad

We buried him facing paradise
