Lyrics

I thought I’d seen the last of this demon on my shoulder
There most my past thought he’d leave as I got older
And as embers of tomfoolery continue to smoulder
He sits there overruling me, colonel to my soldier
There’s this niggling voice that given the choice I would brush off,
I’d get rid of it’s boisterous grin and stop making a fuss of it,
But it’s stuck like a mollusk to the bottom of my flaws
As it feeds of the weakness that leaks from my paws
And the spores of the trouble to be caused take force
Suffocating the basis of good that I’ve sourced
Since the last time, that I dropped my vices
Retrieved by the demon and popped on ice
This illegible cycle goes round and round,
Man it’s vital I find some higher ground
I thought I’d seen the last of this demon on my shoulder,
There most my past thought he’s leave as I got older
As embers of tomfoolery continue to smoulder
He sits there overruling me, colonel to my soldier
There’s a certain level of disheveled I can revel in,
A certain fraction of my actions with the devil in,
And every now and then my head it needs a levelling
So I can stop the sediment of sin from ever settling,
But it’s hard when this temptress is trying to caught me now
Bring out the bad and incredibly naughty
Advice would be nice, cause nobody taught me
How to slaughter the beast that’s sure it’s bought me
AH HECK, I’ve gotta stop this height,
Deceived by the demon at a costly price
With a swagger in his manner and repost prices
How do I stop this guy, and get him off my life?
I thought I’d seen the last of this demon on my shoulder,
There most my past thought he’s leave as I got older
As embers of tomfoolery continue to smoulder
He sits there overruling me, colonel to my soldier
