We would sit and talk all night

Watch shadows flicker in the firelight

We could really put the world to rights

There was us and there was them

I’d sit though movies that would make you cry

We’d be each other’s alibi

It was easy never had to try

Life was good back then

Summer went and took love away

All my arrows seemed to ricochet

September nights at the beech cafe

Are just a distant memory

If we could only get back to when

doesn’t have to be our requiem

If I offered up a prayer

would I hear you say Amen
