Woke up in the afternoon

Found the same old race

I pushed back the curtain

Of this ragged old stage

My hearts in the lowlands

And I’m stuck in some town

I know they’ll be there

They are waiting for me

When i get back around

Give me a tall jar of tawny tango

And I’ll lower my left glove

Let down my right from above

Throw all my silver in the cut

It’s that evil we need

Blood moon blues

Long moxie is vital for my nerves

It’s been a fine time here

Though better down the road

And I’ll be moving on

There is no hat

Sometimes it’s better

To be lucky than good

I was looking down

For just a little too long

Day became as black as river stone
