Know by Now

I grew up on the North side of Oakland County, they think they know about me

But if I'm tempted, ain't no promising I won't get rowdy

Its been a minute since we did it like the old days

We'd write a song in 4 plays, record it and then go blaze

I've been in the building while you hanging out in doorways

Devoted to my fam, I'll cross the street like I looked both ways

Seems like I've been only getting better in my old age

And as I pass the time, it gets more difficult to show rage

So I've been chilling in the town I was raised

And when I tell them that, I'm shocked that they sound so amazed

Maybe family isn't part of what they label as wealth

Like if it doesn't get you dollars then it stays on the shelf

I put my heart and soul in something that surpasses the physical

It'll soothe us and relax us so perhaps its medicinal

I just need them all to hear me, I don't have to be visible

'Cause the theme to every message that we have is subliminal

You'll never know how I feel if you don't know by now

The dream we chase feels so real, its why we won't slow down

There's so much more that life has to offer those who frown

But you won't see what's out there 'till you stand on solid ground

I used to think that it was all about the status and pride

'Till me and my closest friends went through the saddest divide

What it taught me is the "now" is just a fraction of life

And for my love of country I'll put up a passionate fight

People want the things they can't have and chase after the most fly

I just stay secluded and give praises to the Most High

Protection's always near, if it ain't on me then its close by

You might not always win but you'll get nothing if you don't try

They only show us what they want us to see

So our awareness stays as low as it can possibly be

They don't want to introduce agendas positively

Because to them, we're only herds of cattle, obviously

Its just a shame they can't contribute more empowering plans

Instead of making sure their money and power expands

Keep supplying the demand and watch the profits advance

I'm just working on a way to make my knowledge enhance

You'll never know how I feel if you don't know by now
