Lyrics

Out in the bush, where the gumtrees sway,
An Aussie bloke was grillin' away.
Had a snag on the barbie, sizzlin' hot,
When a kangaroo hopped up to the spot.
Oi, skip, back off, that sausage is mine!
The roo just stared with a cheeky design.
With boxing gloves on, he said, "Let's go, mate,
The last snag's mine, it's time to fight fate!"
"You've got grass and gum leaves, a whole buffet,
But this sausage here's not your takeaway.
I've got onions and sauce, and it's cooked just right,
So back off, Skip, or it's a snaggin' fight!"
The kangaroo flexed and gave a sly grin,
"This isn't over, mate, let's begin."
The Aussie grabbed tongs and waved them high,
"You'll need more than hops to take this guy!"
Oi, skip, back off, that sausage is mine!
The roo just grinned with a fiery shine.
With a tail-spin kick and a hop so light,
The snag flew up—it was quite the sight!
The sausage landed on a plate nearby,
While the crowd looked on with a hungry eye.
The Aussie and roo both dove in fast,
But the snag was snatched by a kookaburra at last!
They looked at each other, stunned and beat,
"Mate," said the roo, "I guess that's defeat."
"Let's fire up the grill, throw on a few more,
There's plenty of snags, let's settle the score."
Oi, skip, back off, that sausage is mine!
But now they laugh, share beers, and dine.
No tail-spin kicks or tongs in sight,
Just mates around the fire tonight.
And as the kookaburra laughed in the tree,
The Aussie and roo found harmony.
"Next time, mate, we'll guard it tight,
No bird will snag our feast tonight!"
Just when they thought the battle was done,
The roo spied the esky under the sun.
"One last coldie, mate, it's there to be had,
But I'll grab it first, so don't get mad!"
Oi, skip, back off, that beer's for me!
The roo just laughed, "We'll see, we'll see.
"With a leap and a bound, he made his move,
The Aussie dove in with something to prove!
The esky flipped, and the can took flight,
They scrambled and slipped, what a comical sight!
The beer hit the ground with a fizzy spray,
And both stood frozen as it rolled away.
Oi, skip, back off, that beer's for me!
But now they're mates, as mates should be.
No wrestling hops or punches tonight,
Just sharing a brew by the firelight.
And as the stars lit the outback sky,
They laughed 'til they teared, no need to ask why.
"Mate, this esky's a symbol, a bond so clear—
We'll always fight fair over snag or beer!"
