O Weary waiting one

Bruised heart collecting dust

In the fullness of time your God has come

Unto this fractured earth

The very ground He cursed

By dawning flesh to show our flesh its worth

Here now

The Almighty One becomes breakable

He comes to set the table

Into our weakness born

To settle up the score

Wise as the serpent, blameless as the dove

The Infinite confines Himself for love

O heir of Adam’s fall

Your hope all but dissolved

Into this world’s long winter God has walked

Upending all uncertainty

With unexpected majesty

He’ll grow and die your death upon a tree

He’ll bleed for those who should have adored Him

Reconcile hearts who divorced Him

Forgive the ones with hatred in their eyes

A King, but not like you would imagine

Born in dirt, for no one would have Him

He’ll pray for the guilty as they take His life
