The Carpenter family was Christian lived right on my street

We played sports together neighborhood friends they moms was sweet

They invited me to church the first time when I was 9

When I heard Gospel said the sinners prayer and I was crying

But my life got crazy, we moved away and then things changed

Ms MaRae had saved me, she prayed for me when I was 16 on that corner serving

She told me son I know your special and your life has purpose

That’s when my soul felt worthless gave up searching

LORD you called when I landed in that prison cell

I gave my life to you but that didn’t end very well

I get back out go back to the streets and them drugs I’d sell

I guess we all know what happened this ain’t no fairy tale
