Incompetence

Don’t tell me that I’ve done it again

Cause my soul it can’t take another hit

I’m afraid it might just be the end

I’m scared I would never trust again

Rereading all my journals and I wish

I could point out the day that it ended

Daydreaming on the memories that we have

Or am I misremembering the past

Maybe we both knew that it was limited

Right then we were just what each other needed

And now I feel I’ve found it again

I pray that I don’t mistreat it

May be in over my head

Not equipped to deal with this

I hope you’ll have patience

I hope we’ll make it

I can’t remember what I said

Can’t remember what I did

I just hope this time is different

I said I promise and I meant it

The times that I tend to overthink

The times that I feel self pity

Somebody please remind me who I am

Tell me that I’m a prize to win

Can’t give it up so easily this time

I’ll earn your heart but you’ve gotta earn mine

Should we both color in the lines

Or conceptualize our own design

May be in over my head

Not equipped to deal with this

I hope you’ll have patience
