We are a reflection, of the image we portray

A burden that can be heavy, with life being as it may

Choosing to live by the conscience, we each have inside our head

Trying to make ends meet, with our daily alotted bread

Life brings mistakes, this we are assured

And we hope to heed the lesson, that is to be learned

A reflection is what we see in a mirror

But in life, we struggle to see the picture so clear

As what we seek from others, we often withhold

Instead hoping sooner than later, that by them, we are paroled

Should each take the path, to forgive one another

It would lift a weight off ourselves, as well as the other

A reflection has a beginning, to making wrongs into right

One must take the lead, for liberation to take flight

I wish I had initiated action sooner, in hindsight

This moment is here and now, with each a witness, to this plight

With these words I forgive, each and all, for any actions against me perceived as wrong

I pray, their ears fall, upon this poem converted to song

I forgive those that bullied, those too small, too different, and those that are always wrong, which in our society, is too often the norm

For this gave me the courage, to grow and to blossom, making a life to withstand any storm

For those that stole time, possessions or money, I am no longer concerned

You taught me a lesson, that real value, comes from things that are earned

For those tours of military duty, and first hand views of violence and war

Fret not, for I was shown my gift to write poems, and to understand how to show the World to love more

And those Relationships, regardless of circumstance, even those that took a chance with romance, or those who shared, for a moment, a dance

Know I hold no reservations, and I find calmness that each of our future relations, will benefit and be greatly enhanced

Now in turn, I ask for forgiveness,

For the time, I cheated a test

For those moments, I was an unruly guest

For the times, I hurt your feelings, or bullied in jest

For when, I posed as a thief, and avoided arrest

For those moments,I did not give or hold my trust, causing unnecessary stress

For when I was not dependable, and this I did not immediately address

For the times I did not value our friendship, causing it to it become, more of a mess

For when, in a relationship I lacked effort, or brought sadness or pain, for this I do solemnly detest

For those instances, I pushed so hard without giving it a rest

For those times, I was addicted or overly obsessed

For not always achieving, or giving my very best

For the moments I did not recognize, that I, was, so truly blessed

Please forgive me, for my mistakes

Those that brought lost friendships, and many heartaches

For I once was a boy who grew to a man

With no sense of direction, and no thought of my life plan

I do not ask for this, to be an excuse

I only hope, it is forgiveness, that you decide to choose

For whatever wrongs, incurred, I forgive you

Please release any resentment towards me, bringing a lifetime lasting truce

Let us recognize, that there is some work to be done

For those that are perfect, there simply are none

Is it really our desire, to blame each other and to shun?

Or rather, to right wrongs, that we should teach our daughters and sons

It is through quarrels, the World, is tied in a knot

With each tug and pull, it becomes more fraught

But if we each find ways, to forgive why we fought

We would begin to untangle, and recognize, that those issues, were all for naught

I challenge each and all, to work at loosening their strings

For the other end will be relieved, to resolve each of these things

Letting go, grants us a reason to dance and to sing

And proudest of all, will be the great King of Kings
