Lyrics

I watched a lot of late-night TV wide awake
Ate tons of fried stuff and slept in til ten.
Saw all those sci-fi film where ev'rything looks fake.
Walked through the park then home alone again.
I sang dumb country songs and took too many naps
Stared into space not moving, like, at all.
I think I spent four weeks just knitting stupid caps.
I'd hold my phone but never make a call.
But all that wasting time was through
In just three minutes after I met you.
Three minutes seem like nothing,
Three minutes go so fast.
But if you find the person
Who makes those minutes last
Look close and if you're lucky
Be smart enough to know
Three minutes can start something
That has some room to grow.
Minute one was just a means
To minute two so I could see
That a lot can happen quickly
And we fell in love by minute three.
I like the way you whistle while you fold the clothes.
You leave a mess in ev'ry room you're in.
It makes no dif'rence, far as peaceful living goes
You keep me calm and that's a total win.
You've got opinions on the way most humans live
We don't agree too much, but that's okay.
I'm happy when we talk, of that I'm positive
You make me better ev'ry single day.
I'm breathing deep and that's no crime
Let's be in love three minutes at a time.
Three minutes while we're laughing,
Three minutes when we're sad.
We break it down so simply
That nothing feels too bad.
I thought before I met you
I'd learned how not to feel,
And if that sounds pathetic,
At least you know it's real.
So I'll take my life in moments,
And count seconds by the score
Then I'll add them all up at the end
And ask for just three minutes more.
So we could have just one more night,
One more fight,
One more kiss,
One more moment like this.
And if we should drift for a day,
That's okay,
When you know
If I go
It's so true:
Three minutes later I'd be running back to you.
Three minutes are enough now,
It's fin'ly coming clear --
Each minute spent so wisely
Is worth another year.
Thank god I wasted time
Until you were standing there.
You knew how much I liked you
I couldn't help but stare.
And I'm grateful for the minutes gone
And minutes yet to be
See, I'm thrilled to find that time with you
Is time I got for free.
Thanks for spending all your awesome minutes
Sitting here in love with me.
