Dreaming of a day when I might fly with you

Brushing up on my Spanish

Practico Español

While I dust off the piano

And I put down my phone

Maybe someday this whole thing will end

And I’ll see if my French is just as bad as I think it is

I wanna say “bon voyage a mes problemes”

Hop a flight to anywhere other than here

And I know it’s a first world problem

But damn it, don’t we all need to dream this year

Hell, I’d take a rainy London, I’m

Well I’d love to see San Francisco

Or head back up to Maine

There’s so much left to see here

Without leaving the States

But there’s something ‘bout stamping a passport

Leaving American accents and getting away

I wanna be on my way to a new place

Where nobody knows my name

Could be Buenos Aires or Florence

Cape Town, Tokyo, the coast of Spain

Now really this applies to every season,

Not just quarantine

‘Cause it ain’t cheap to fly around the world

And see the things I’ve never seen

Not to mention the cost to our planet

It’s not like I’m unaware of the damage

But should I skip out on experiencing the myriad possibilities of a world that extends outside of me?

...tourism... There’s pros and cons, I know, of course

Its allure isn’t just the perfect shot for that Instagram post

I think any inquisitive mind

Wants to see what there is to find
