Once upon a rhyme was a man whose mind would shine

Painting pictures for the blind, writing scriptures so divine

Risen from the void, so in his soul he knew they'd find him odd

But gifted with a voice that when he spoke he sounded like a god

He started to climb, feeling righteous to embark his grind

He wanted to fly, but the wind for his kite was hard to find

He'd close his eyes to see the brightness through his hardest times

He'd walk the line between his lightest and his darkest sides

Navigation through a world so cold

His compass was a pen and paper, watched his map unfold

He always had a different angle, crafted his own mold

And through his patience, he ensured it'd never go untold

Amongst his weary travels

He came across a duke who told him in order to win his battles, this is what you do

Go forth and be yourself, and if they love it, know it's true

And if they don't, you'll have the peace of mind of being you

And so the story goes, the apple of his eye was full

The magic in the studio was undeniable

He felt he was complete, but also feared he'd die a fool

Born a black sheep, but never would he ever dye his wool

The duke's advice would be a guide to make his mind a tool

Discovered art within his life and made it rhyme-able

Although the longer days and restless nights he'd find were cruel

They'd still outweigh the bitter price of never being findable

And so his journey ensued, at stage side for his cue

He blew the top off venues, and opened minds with his tunes

He stole the air out of rooms, following acts would be doomed

Like any day he could boom, his time to shine was soon

And on his weary travels, he met a Dundee

Who said he was a star that everyone should come see

Said he had a mind one of a kind, now let it free

He said he was the chosen one, and that one is me
