Lyrics

Who am I?
I followed the river to the sea
Discovered and accepted the chaos, the immeasurable complexity of my waters
Seen the twinkling of light reflected from oceans galaxies afar
WOW! We're so different, you, and I
You, the former and future me's, and you, the others
And yet, somehow, all so similar
Parallel universes are often the talk of science fiction, but could they be a reality?
The "many worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics suggests that every possible outcome of a quantum event occurs, each in its own separate universe, with its own unique observer
Quantum multiverse theory follows from this and speculates
That, with every decision we make, every decision is in fact made, each branching into its own universe
Could it be that there are an infinite number of each of us, each making one different decision?
Infinite multitudes of being, endlessly splintering, shimmering like diamonds into every possible direction
Who am I now?
Who am I... now?
Who will I be?
The Butterfly Effect, a concept in Chaos Theory, posits that even the most minute changes to a complex system can have huge effects
How different would each universe be?
With our current scientific understanding, there is little we can do to test these theories
Other branches of our universe would—by nature—be inaccessible to us, in ours
But it might cause one to pause and reflect, on all the possibilities
Everything that we are, and everything that we might become
Who knows what the future holds?
The beauty is in the uncertainty
Where will I go next?
YOU LISTEN.
The wilderness of the unknown
The fire, the frenzy, the panic
The pursuit of knowledge (a most certainly noble one)
The ecstasy of discovery (if you can find it)
The emptiness (when you don't)
But through it all, the endless magnificence
The constant that binds it together
Is the journey
And so I flow forwards, forever
Like the river to the sea
