Tall trees running past the moon

Driving on the highway I saw it redder and bigger and brighter than it had ever been in my lifetime

And under the deafening wind

I think I heard a thought I'd forgotten since I was a kid

That it was following us

And you took a picture of it, looked beautiful

But I wanted to open the door and roll onto the highway

I can't stop thinking of everything but

Say that it's fine, they're all just stories now

Focus on the view outside

The sun-setting sky is brown, maroon

Roll up the windows so the black smoke stays out

We looked to our left and all the olive trees were burning

I watched, stumped

As the flames danced and ate through the trunks

Everything's so serious

When we left the car

Got into the house

Watching you dry off after a shower

I sat on the edge of the bed

Hanging on by a thread

Watching your hands carefully fold clothes

They could hold on to me for a little longer

Until I can hold on myself
