Lyrics

The wind is snaking through, dirt looking dry
the shadow you carried growing softer by the mile
voices sound like sonnets, faces shine like knives
can't remember where you've been who you left behind
your ship is twisted, drunk, hunting phosphor by the moon
and you know there's nobody here and soon you'll be nobody too.
Boulders bow and bend like brittle trunks in the heat
thickening vapour making rubber of the street
buzzing, barking flies and shadows carving up the sheen
you fold into a hammock sun, citrus streams and molten dreams
the mountain stretches dark and wretched flirting with the moon
and you know there's nobody here and soon you'll be nobody too.
Aerosol poems, rebel stickers on the wall
shady coats fading like a whisper down the hall
dark aromas floating, blowing smoke rings in the night
you clench the scene with antique teeth, stilleto heels, coasters squeal
laughter flies like trumpet arrows fired to the moon
and you know there's nobody here and soon you'll be nobody too.
Far below sails float and flock upon the sea
breakers rip and charge upon the shore like frightened steed
your window looking out on time and time looking in
you felt all there is to feel, others dream the things you've seen
the gulls are crying, calling, lauding flight over the blue
and you know there's nobody here and soon you'll be nobody too.
