Lyrics

Dig her deep and throw it well back
I tried a slick move and I threw off a track
Well the sprockets where worn and the idler was gone
Some day’s I wonder why the hell I was born
Well I got my first digger when I was 4
The first hole I dug was in my bedroom floor
And with a digging bucket and a montabert
We’ll never move heaven but we can move earth.
Well I got a digging job working for the Uncle Brothers
Doing landwork grants on four balled rubbers
There was a rattling bucket, and Celtic Tiger Scream
So they got me a brand new machine.
Well I wrote my name on the balance weight
And I took that plastic of that brand new seat
I got a digging bucket and one with a blade
Well to say I was excited would be an under-estimate.
I throttled her up was done been new
And I slid down a bank as I did slew
I lifted a stone the half size of the dipper
And dropped it straight into an eight wheel tipper.
With a big full bucket and the balance weight swing
I could hear the growl of the slewing ring
As I did drag, and the dozer did push
And the cab filled up with a blade of dust.
The woman did ring looking for me
But this is the place where I want to be.
Then the pads came loose, There was a crack in the boom
I stretched her out at night to let pass the moon
I used the 2 speed tracking to cross wet ground
And hope to hell that she wouldn’t go down.
I passed the Digger King on a rubber duck
With a sticker that read “Where there’s muck, there’s luck”
I caught the blade bucket for a little bit of taste
Signed my name in the mud with a smiley face.
I dug out rock and I levelled clay
Until the new bucket it was wore away
I found a busted one lying in the hedge
And all it needed was a cutting edge.
Well I got a tilt hitch, a digger cert
And a sticker on the window saying King of the Earth
As the sun was setting, I was fitting new teeth
And then I kept digging till I was Dipper Deep.
Well I am down deep in the ground
But baby I aint dead
I’m filling Moxy Dumpers with Coal, Oil and Lead
Dig her deep and throw it well back
I tried a slick move and I threw off a track
Well the sprockets where worn and the idler was gone
Some day’s I wonder why the hell I was born
Well I got my first digger when I was 4
The first hole I dug was in my bedroom floor
And with a digging bucket and a montabert
We’ll never move heaven but we can move earth.
I am the King of the Leavers on this 30 tonne machine
But I was still going under so I called in the Digger Queen
We’re going to fill in the Grand Canyon
And square of this earth
And extend the Limerick Tunnel
Straight down to Perth
Dig her deep and throw it well back
I tried a slick move and I threw off a track
Well the sprockets where worn and the idler was gone
Some day’s I wonder why the hell I was born
Well I got my first digger when I was 4
The first hole I dug was in my bedroom floor
Well I kept on digging until I hit white rock
I put on the Hammer
Went Knock, Knock, Knock
Alright
