Lyrics

City lights like wounds are glowing,
Rain keeps drowning out my trace.
Every step I take, unknowing,
Like a ghost that time won't face.
I recall the streets by number,
Like a vow I swore to keep.
But the wind replies with thunder,
Through the cars in endless sleep.
I won’t return again,
My shadow’s gone.
All roads are broken lines -
I walk alone.
No name, no map, no sign,
No seed was sown.
I lost the thread of time -
I turned to stone.
Past the gate where rust is bleeding,
Morning taps a brittle pane.
I destroyed the words I’m needing,
Torched the book that held my name.
In the folds of torn-up leather
Were the things I used to be.
Now there’s dust and empty weather
Where my soul once carried me.
I won’t return again,
My shadow’s gone.
All roads are broken lines -
I walk alone.
No name, no map, no sign,
No seed was sown.
I lost the thread of time -
I turned to stone.
Maybe where the tracks are dying,
I will find a voice I knew.
But I’m just a sound replying
To the dark that’s cutting through.
I won’t return
