Privileged enough to disengage from the injustice surrounding us,

Feeling you can turn away from what you feel doesn’t affect you

You keep telling yourself that they’re all the same and that there’s nothing that we can do

While I can’t deny the blatant corruption within this rigged and outdated system

I don’t see why we can’t rise above and fight for those who are in the crosshairs

How can we just sit back and accept things as they are?

How can you not feel that there must be more than this?

I get that it’s easier remaining a bystander

Will you still stand idle when it’s your rights they come for next?

You can keep up the deafening silence

Even when it matters most

But we'll all know where you stood

When you chose to let oppression remain unopposed
