Lyrics

Ladies and gents
And all Im beautiful friends
What I got here, is a simple story
Of something quite extraordinary
Texas hold em, got him good
Rushed his hand, misunderstood
Lost his place, his debt had grown
Red tie, black shoes, seemed alone
I asked his name, he didn't know
I asked if I could tag along, that night
Now then, let me rewind
This story sips like red wine
Which is to say, at a rapid pace,
'Cause he drank so quick , and he had no grace
But I was out there mystified
His eyes were sad but didn't lie, that night
He told me was cia
Went to the library twice a day
Spent all his time alone
2 lives, 3 kids, 4 big loans
No home address, no car or phone
He'd lost it all today
But he kept his smile
And he seemed so kind
So I tagged along
We were downtown, 56th blocks now
Of endless conversation filled with
Guns, booze, cars, bad habits
his first wife was called sharon
and his second he couldn't manage, at all
Now then, 2 am in a motel bar,
Drinks on me, my winnings gone
The barkeep asked me how we met
I said "a high stakes tournament"
I asked him if he knew his name,
He looked twice, leaned in and then he said
"Gary Johnson, CIA, how much did we lose today?"
He really was all they said
Badge and ID, on display
And stood just 10ft tall
Reached in, real quick and pulled a gun
Locked eyes, held tight, knew I'm done
And waited for the shot
But it never came
He said thank you friend
And he was gone
