I learned in this life music is what I wanna pursue

I learned that nothing worth doing will be easy to do

I learned that motivation will always come and then go

And the easy solution to a problem is just to face it

I learned that the brain has a tendency to overthink

Dressing fear into logic like that'll ever make it shrink

I learned that perception can change or be changed in a day

And deep thoughts can come and go kinda like the gray

I learned that the small things in life are gonna seem big

But time is perception — the farther away, the smaller it is

And that's just what I've learned

I learned to cherish the journey and not the finish

I learned the means don't always justify the image

I learned that not everyone will appreciate me as a friend

But the people who do will stick around until the very end

I learned that not everybody wants me to give them help

But instead stay at their side while they try to figure it out

I learned that not everybody is gonna understand

So I won't take the dry towel and try to wring it out

I learned that sometimes self-sufficiency is most important

And relying on other people will only distort it

But I gotta know that's not always the case

Because asking for help is a skill I don't ever wanna erase

I learned that people — they can change or fade as life goes on

And if that happens, then there's no choice but to stray away

But I learned that if I take what they taught me

Then I can use their wisdom to live in a better way

And that's just what I've learned

What I've learned

I learned that people in my life are gonna come and go

But the memory and all of the lessons probably won't

I learned that I gotta pick up my feet while on the run

because I won't always have the option to start at square one

I learned nothing or anything will ever stay the same

And the ability to adapt is what will make me stronger

I learned that there's no better time to start than the present

Because what I don't accomplish doesn't make my regrets smaller

I learned that not everything will go my way

But it's up to me to make the best out of the worst every day

I learned that the right path is gonna be a little scary

But stepping out my comfort zone's gonna be necessary

I learned that I can't always drink what I fill in my cup

But success is guaranteed if I never give up

I realized that for the past I will yearn

But the future has a lot in store

And that's just what I learned
