Lyrics

The apron’s in the trash, the badge is in the ditch,
Done with being poor, done with guarding the rich.
Two days on the run, no money and no bed,
Just a wild, burning fire screaming in their head.
Steeve looks at Roni, she’s hungry and she’s cold,
Love ain't enough when you're out in the bold.
They need gold for the highway, to buy a new name,
So they’re gonna take it, and they’re not to blame.
It’s their first big strike, the baptism of fire,
Two lovers on the edge, climbing ever higher.
A heist for some hope, a robbery of fate,
They aren't asking no more, they’re closing the gate.
Hand in hand, through the crime and the light,
Steeve and Roni starting their very first fight.
It’s the start of the road, it’s the price of the turn,
The Dark Blues is blazing, letting everything burn.
A lonely gas station, out on the edge of town,
The perfect kind of place to lay a marker down.
Steeve pulls his hat low, Roni steadies her breath,
Walking into the ring, like they're cheating death.
No need for the fist, just the weight of his stare,
The look of an old fighter with no mercy to spare.
She empties the till while he watches the door,
They aren’t the victims they were anymore.
Safety click off, the bag is heavy and full,
They jump in the car, feeling the highway’s pull.
Their hands touch and tremble, but they’re finally one,
The first dollar earned since their new life begun.
It wasn’t for the crime, it was just to survive,
They robbed the very fate that kept them barely alive.
A heist for some hope, a robbery of fate,
They’ll never be the nobodies they were of late.
Steeve and Roni running, as the engine starts to roar,
Two kings without crowns, headed for a distant shore.
They’ve stolen back their luck, they’ve broken the wall,
The Dark Blues is fading, once and for all.
