Good afternoon Ms. Young,

Um, we have your daughter here,

she's out of dress code once again,

with um, what are those, uh, yes, black jorts

This is the third time this month,

So we'll have to give her a Saturday detention

And if she refuses to show up again, we will be suspending her

Always in detention, never suspension,

3.5 GPA, academics,

Hooper on the high, an activist on the low

She's a philosophical, and conscious too,

You're gonna be famous, her teachers say

She knew this all along, but for what she contemplates

She wanted to be big, but in God's way,

What does he have in store for her

She contemplates

Will I ever amount to something that's more she contemplates,

Will I get in my own head and in my way she contemplates,

She never sleeps, she's always awake,

Thinking about her future and what she'll create

Okay, first off, the dress code is so unfair

Most girls wearing provocative clothing don't get a Saturday,

But I get it for wearing shorts to my kneecaps

Okay

Or her greatest fear, never changing ways,

Should she let the crowd change up her pace?

Her biggest fear was to be erased, left alone in a deep, dark space

Forgotten in history, like she didn't matter,

Less than an atom or breaths of chatter

Less than a grain of salt in the batter, sometimes she had to be reminded she mattered

To stop herself from wasting away like an apple,

Sometimes she needed to be praised for her ideals

Working real hard so her dreams could become real,

Go to law school or sign a record deal

Whoa, okay, anyone out of dress code that the staff sees, we will issue a Saturday petition

We're doing the best that we can here

She saw her mama struggle and knew she wanted to soar

Before that asteroid hit, she'd be the biggest carnivore

She adopted mother's strength and surreal vigor

And a mentality to always get yours

She has so much potential and so much more

She don't act like the typical teenager

For her close friends, she was willing to go to war,

To sacrifice herself for peace in the world

Cause she knew the feeling of always loving with no return

Life was a lesson she was willing to learn

And through the pain, her life took a turn

Now she is a star that will forever burn

Okay, um, mom, can you just come get me

Because, obviously, this is, all of this is too much

I mean, I can't keep just getting dress coded

And getting Saturday detentions for stuff that isn't even out of dress code
