These words we say should mean something, but our hypocrisy has been bred by apathy. we sing our songs and raise our heads but sometimes these words are meaningless

And we can sing these old songs, a million times over again. in shallow waters we stand, like the shattered heart that longs to beat again. it doesn't seem so simple to me. this time, let's fly. let's spread our wings. [let's] use hearts on fire to build everything. create with the desire that hope brings, a better place than what we've already seen. so we changed a few words and thought it meant something new… but that was a not invention, it was desperation. so here we lie defeated, fallen to our knees as we bleed. I know there is more to this. i know there is more inside us. we can build tomorrow with a thought. the change exists inside of us
