Things Are Getting Better

Every day's a struggle just to survive I look on the world sometime with tears in my eyes And they say "Don't worry" They claim that, Things are getting better every day' But how can you be proud of turnin' your head When you see little kids on the streets, y'all, beggin' for bread Said I'm worried, Lord have mercy That things are getting' better every day One more thing, you all They claim this recession is soon gonna end but Food prices are higher than they've ever been Said I'm worried They claim that things are gettin' better every day Claim it's gettin' better But it ain't gettin' no better They claim it's gettin' better But I can't see it gettin' no better Oh no, oh no One more thing you all Every time a man stands up for what he thinks might be right Somebody's come along, you all and they end his life Said I'm worried, Lord have mercy That things are getting' better every day Every day, y'all Every day, y'all And one more thing People die because of lack of medication They ain't got the money sometime to pay for them operation And they say, "Don't worry' That things are gettin' better every day I sure can't see it this mornin' Peoples they ain't ever seen times like they are Like bein' so hard Seems like everybody everywhere has been laid off their job And they say, "Don't worry" Say it again That things are gettin' better every day One more time fellas now Claim it's gettin' better But I can't see it getting' no better But I sure hope it's gettin' a little bit better
