One Foot in the Grave

I put one foot forward while the other one stomps on the grave And my hands clap a rhythm but the lord ain't listening today I came back from the river because the river ain't no place to pray And I look at myself in the mirror and say Like the suicide snake I bite my tail I dive down deep into the belly of the whale Wash myself in a big black tub Rub a dub dub rub a dub dub I hear one hand clapping while the other one gives me a wave And the lord keeps whistling but I ain't listening today I'm gonna drown in the river, gonna float all my troubles away And I look at myself in the mirror and say Boy you're gonna grow to be a man someday Like the suicide snake I bite my tail Dive down deep in the belly of the whale
