Lyrics

Yeah, in life, many things happen
And sometimes we hold on to that stress and we get comfortable with it
But right now it's time to let that go
We gotta hold on to Christ, squeeze Him tight
But first, we gotta let this go, Jesus
How would you feel if your whole life you had been told
That you was stupid 'til you felt low enough to sell your soul
For that feeling of no control
Seeming like the life you're travelling is nothing but a hopeless road
And better days are never to come 'cause it only gets worse
You grow up feeling like your first and last name was a curse
Being neglected, never protected, being molested
And just too ashamed to confess it
Spending late nights restless, stressing
Praying to Satan that he would give you another death wish
Violence I was arranged with, introduced to hate
When I came face to face with my sister's rapist
Every tear that dropped, I felt my life fading
Like death was coming and I was just stuck waiting
And I'm impatient, so thoughts of suicide came in
Made itself at home and eventually got caged in
I'm praying that it's just a violent dream
As I toss and turn, waking up with silent screams
Breath taken as my world begins to shake and
This can't be life, and if it is, God must be mistaken
So why
Why do I have to live this life?
Tell me why
Why do I have to live this life?
So come with me as we take this trip through history
Uncovering the mystery of all this misery
I grew up with a busy mother
One sister, one brother, no father, so all we had was each other
You think that's rough, but on top of all this
I'm always pissed 'cause I grew up brawling and alcoholic
So by this time, I'm like, why bother?
Plus my whole family says I'm a reflection of my father
And he was locked in jail doing a bid
After he lost his family, lost his wife, lost his kids
Lost his job, lost his whip, lost his freedom, lost his crib
Lost his oneness with God when he took one sniff
Eyes covered by sin, I mean blinded, cuz
And you tell me this the dude that I remind you of?
Yeah right, and you got the nerve to wonder why I'm heated
Overly stressed, and that's when I started getting weeded
Spending my nights and weekends out in the street creeping
Try to be positive, but all I hear is negative speaking
Far from Jesus, searching for where peace is
'Cause in this season, my life is being shattered to pieces
So why
Why do I have to live this life?
Tell me why
Why do I have to live this life?
