You ever notice when you're chasing your purpose

You always feel like you're reminded of your worst sins?

Why you think that is, huh? I mean, really think about it

its the enemy's working

see, you used to do exactly what he wanted back then

Never did a single thing to make him worry or stress

But when you grabbed hold of God and His promise on your life

You become a threat

Now understand we don't battle against flesh and blood

Unfortunately, it's a whole lot darker, a whole lot deeper

A whole lot harder than I thought it was

But it's important when you're fighting in the battle

To understand your enemy

Not good enough you know his name

Gotta understand where he came, how he operates, you know, I mean

Peep his game

His favorite weapon is shame

Reminds you of everything you came from

All the terrible things that you've done

Says, "God can't use you, yea, He's got children, but you know that you ain't one"

He's pretty keen with too, he gives compliments

Shows you everything you were blessed with

And makes you think they're gonna die inside you

That they can't be used 'cause of everything you've been through

Well, I say flip the script, remind him of the pit

The same thoughts that he haunts you with, you can use those to haunt him

Doesn't want you to see that there's power in the contrast

Between your future and your past

The deeper that pit God pulled you out of

The greater your potential for impact

Don't want you to see that your story has teeth

The more you go through, the more people you can reach

Let's talk self-righteousness

Ooh, that's another one, it's probably his best

He can lose you to Christ, make you think he's done

But he's just getting warmed up

Plants a seed of bitterness, sprouts into questions like

"Why aren't people doing things like us?"

Justifies any time they judge

Grows into lack of love and compassion

This makes you no different from them

Actually, it kind of makes you worse

'Cause you can be just as sinful and justify your actions

With an out-of-context Bible verse

I've done it too, ha

Whatever verse makes you feel good, that's the one you use

Makes you feel like you always have the upper hand

'Cause you know that God's on your side, then you truly can never lose

Yeah, I offend a lot of Christians when I write these types of songs

They get all pissed off, tell me I should use my gifts for the righteous and not the lost

Say, "Hey, you should really write songs about God's goodness, light, and truth"

Well, find another artist 'cause I wrote this for someone who's actually real

Not you

Hey, what's the problem? You asked for truth

Was that just a little bit too honest for you?

You don't like being called out for your fake pursuit?

you know its just a coup, just wanna be part of that crew

one thing Christs blood can't cover is a self righteous fake christ lover

and the enemy understands that this sin stands out as one that's unexcused.
