Lyrics

Will o' the Wisp
A fallen autumn leaf, its relevance dimmed
Given a purposeless presence as it dances in the wind
A fallen soldier, long since in the grave
Has a smiling life within a photo frame
Full moons pass into their crescent and back into shining glory
The movement of the past into the present a continuous story
I've spoken of the tapestry thread and the hearts and minds where we dwell
And if the words are there to be read, the souls are there as well
So many souls lurking in the wreckage
The young and old, each a life-long message
Their bits of DNA long since blown away
And today's another day, they say; another overlay, just another overlay
The reckless and the strong still alive in lines of song
But those unsung and unrevered have all but disappeared
Yet each still a soul in case in its hidey-hole in space
Worth a note and pride of place, endless and endeared
Will o' the wisp; what was that?
I felt it then, I felt it pass
A closeness, at most a ghost of a chance
I felt it as surely as
Will o' the wisp, a fleeting dart
A spirit skipped across my heart
A movement, a moment caught off guard
It touched me like beautiful art
A yellowing leaf turning brown
Nothing doing, stooping, drooping down
From there in the air to there on the ground
At the start of the next merry go round
It's DNA to be consumed, on its way to flowers bloomed
Cycles of lives to rise and fall and then again to rise
That was the magic long before the human psychic spirit lore
For those requiring something more; yes, anything more
A will o' the wisp can now be explained away as something burning in the air
But spirits, well, that's a shade away for what is or isn't really there
Will o' the wisp what is that?
As close as a trip we've yet to have
A closeness at most a ghost of a chance
We'll see it if we need it
Will o' the wisp, a fleeting glance
A spirit flits across our paths
A movement a moment caught off guard
To touch our very hearts
A will o' the wisp, a will o' the wisp. whoosh
