Lyrics

You got a loud campaign, I got receipts and timestamps
Same dudes screaming family switch seats when the lights dim
I watched it happen firsthand, backroom folding chairs
Everybody swore they built it, nobody was holding shares
Funny how the stories change when the paperwork surfaces
The loudest voice in the room usually nervous on purpose
I don't argue online, I let patterns explain it
Your resume need witnesses, mine survived being needed
You sell certainty, I sell observations
You got a team of yes-men rehearsing confirmations
Every bridge that burned left smoke on your jacket
Now you blame the matchmaker every time you strike a match with it
Look, I remember the diner off the highway at two
Three people at the table, only one told the truth
Coffee getting cold while the excuses got warm
That's the difference between a reputation and a uniform
Everybody tough when the room got witnesses
Everybody tough when the room got witnesses
Everybody tough when the room got witnesses
Same mouths go quiet when the paperwork enters it
I done watched partners turn accountants with selective memory
Count every favor they gave and forget every century
You was at the cookout asking everybody for a hand
Now you tell the story like you drew the whole blueprint
With a plan, it's cool, I ain't correcting it
The truth don't need a lawyer when the timeline got evidence
Remember them winter nights, heat cut off, oven cracked open
Four grown men in the living room talking big
While the landlord kept posting notices
Nobody looked too weak then
Everybody had opinions
Funny how success turn recollections into fiction
I don't beef for attention, I pay attention to behavior
People tell on themselves long before they meet a traitor
It's in the handshake, the extra laugh, the certain distance
The way they mention your name different
When somebody else is listening
Look, the loudest guy usually selling something
The quiet one usually building something
That's why I never got impressed by announcements
Half these victories rented, the invoice is still coming
I knew a dude that had a key to every apartment in the building
Thought power meant access until the tenants started leaving
Spent years controlling hallways, watching every door
Couldn't understand why nobody trusted him anymore
That's the part they miss, influence ain't ownership
Just because they know your face don't mean they owe you shit
A lot of people confuse recognition with respect
Then spend a decade getting angry at reality checks
I seen cousins stop speaking over numbers
Mothers caught in the middle tryna keep peace at Thanksgiving dinners
Kids in the next room playing games
Unaware the grown-ups gambling bloodlines over percentages
That's why my circle small, not on purpose, just maintenance
Some relationships expire, some survive renovations
Some collapse from the weight of expectations
And me? I quit measuring worth by applause
Half the people clapping got conditions in the clause
The minute you stop providing what they came to consume
They act like they never walked through the room
The laundromat sign flashed blue through the blinds all night
Couldn't sleep, kept replaying old conversations right
Certain words age different, some get heavier with mileage
Especially when they came from people you admired
One dude swore loyalty was everything, said it every week
Then folded for a shortcut before the month was complete
Didn't even shock me, truthfully, it fit the pattern
The speeches kept getting longer while the actions got scattered
Another cat had talent, real talent, could've went far
Spent more energy counting enemies than counting bars
Every room was a conspiracy, every setback sabotage
Eventually paranoia became the whole entourage
That's why I move different now, not mysterious, just practical
The older I get, the more the audience becomes valuable
Show up, handle business, keep your promises consistent
Most people lose the race before they reach the distance
So when they ask how I stay solid through the switch-ups
The fake love, the missing funds, the mix-ups
I tell 'em nothing special, just paying attention
The game usually explains itself if you listen
