Lyrics

Under the lights at the Mudbrick Hall
Brushstrokes hanging wall to wall
Friday night and the crowd rolls in
You can feel the quiet pride beneath the din
Coffee steaming, tickets at the door
Volunteers pacing worn wooden floors
Every label straight, every frame aligned
Months of work for ten big days
And the artists come from near and far
With stories wrapped in canvas hearts
Hoping someone stops and stays
Caught inside their painted gaze
Oh, the Rotary Eltham Art Show
Built by hands that never ask for glory
Late nights, ladders, cups of tea
A hundred souls behind the scenery
Selective walls and a growing name
Recognized artists wanting in the frame
From whispered dreams to sold red dots
It's more than art, it's what this town has got
There's watercolours soft as rain
Wild abstracts filled with pain
Landscape skies in autumn gold
And portraits with a thousand stories told
The judges walk with careful eyes
The crowd debates the winner's prize
But every piece that finds its place
Carries courage, time, and grace
And someone's dad is stacking chairs
Someone's mum is running raffles there
Someone's fixing lights backstage
While children wander room to page
Oh, the Rotary Eltham Art Show
Where community and passion write the story
Volunteers who give their time
To build something that outshines
And every year the work gets strong
Artists waiting all year long
To hang their work beneath those lights
In Eltham on an opening night
So here's to muddy boots and paint-stained sleeves
To the quiet ones who still believe
That art can bring a town alive
And keep a little magic thriving
Oh, the Rotary Eltham Art Show
A local stage with a reputation soaring
Not built on money, built on care
On people showing they'll be there
And every canvas, every song
Reminds us all where we belong
In the laughter, wine, and glowing hall
At the art show loved by all
