Lyrics

I kept the booth above the town
A quiet post where nights ran long
Fine grain drifting through the beam
Soft as breath before a song
My hands moved steady on the reels
Old routines I knew by heart
Outside, colors changed their shade
While I stayed set apart
Sometimes I heard the world below
Laughter, engines, fading tunes
The fields at dusk would reach the room
Earth and fruit in summer bloom
I lived by showtimes, not by clocks
Meals between the matinees
Other lives lit up the screen
Mine stayed lost inside the haze
Then came a can with no marked name
Edges worn, a citrus trace
I fed it slow into the gate
Felt a shift inside the space
Lightfall, breaking through the dark
Washing over me like something waking
Lightfall, pulling me inside
Toward the moment the past stops shaking
Every shimmer a doorway
Every flicker a name half‑true
The frame revealed a farmhouse yard
A dirt path running through the vines
A boy I knew before my time
Cut across those crooked lines
The sky held that familiar heat
I tasted young on summer days
Dry air rising from the ground
Old pipes singing through the haze
A woman waved from a porch I knew
A man with shoulders built like mine
The air grew heavy in the booth
As if the reel reached through time
I watched it once, then once again
Till the truth pressed on my chest
This wasn't some forgotten reel
It was home, before the rest
My town
My blood
My childhood caught in silver light
Years before my life began
Lightfall, breaking through the dark
Washing over me like something waking
Lightfall, pulling me inside
Toward the moment the past stops shaking
Every shimmer a doorway
Every flicker a name half‑true
The reel kept spinning, steady, low
A rush of air along the wall
The room grew warm with rising heat
My breath held tight, my stance grown small
Then the camera turned and showed
The cinema at the edge of town
The booth I stood in, framed in light
As if the film was calling me down
Lightfall, I lived inside your glow
Holding stories not my own
Lightfall, I'm stepping from the frame
Leave the beam for the next unknown
Every shimmer a doorway
Every flicker a life I never knew
In the morning they'll find the reel
Machine still warm, the door left wide
Once a year they'll run this film
And the hush will fill the aisle
The screen will bloom
The past will rise
And the booth will stand alone
But never without a voice
