Lyrics

Here, where I stay,
And hide from all that's real.
Stringent winds whisper cruelly,
As I try not to feel.
Looking out through the window's frost,
Hoping for light.
Listless longing reaching out
As the grey fades into night.
Something deep within
Clinging to the warmth inside.
Close the door. I'm doing just fine...
The heavy weight of the cold,
Peeling paint and rotting wood,
Just comforts of my every day.
Damp chill and gusty drafts
Drifting from every corner.
Isolation my contentment now.
A buried spark for forward motion,
Transitory, choked by mental lock.
Synapses petrified.
Apathy and lethargy
Provide the motivation for degradation.
Intentions crumbling from inside.
Looking out through the window's frost,
Hoping for light.
Listless longing reaching out
As the grey fades into night.
Something deep within
Clinging to the warmth inside.
Close the door, I'm doing just fine...
I am fine!
The clouds break, the ice begins to thaw.
Pathways revealed, but always there.
Through the fear, I lift my eyes,
And, rising, I open the door.
First steps, fear of the light.
Choosing to move forward.
Tend the spark, grow the flame.
Resolve. Never return again.
Blinding color, fierce wind.
Reaching the heights, I begin to see.
Senses clear now. I remember:
This is mine. I've always been free.
