Well my thumbs goin’ up cause it’s all goin’ down

I’m broke as a joke hitchin’ a ride out of town

I know that they say, if there’s a will there’s a way

but I ain’t found a will no way

But oh I’ve been told

California is made of gold

and so I’ve been sold

headed west chasin’ that rainbow

but I ain’t seen the damn sunrise in a while

and the moon keeps hidin’ from me

wish I could go home but there’s been too many miles and there ain’t no home for me

Oh Lordy I-40 surely has to end

I’m findin’ the horizon ain’t closer yet

smokin’ truck stop parking lot cigarettes

in Amarillo watchin’ that sunset

But oh I’ve been told

California is made of gold

and so I’ve been sold

headed west chasin’ that rainbow

but I ain’t seen the damn sunrise in a while

and the moon keeps hidin’ from me

wish I could go home but there’s been too many miles and there ain’t no home for me

Well I made it outta Vegas round two-fertyfive

a red eye’d trucker must’ve swerved to the right

may my body rest and my soul fly west

so I can see if there’s a home for me

But oh I’ve been told

California is made of gold

and so I’ve been sold

headed west chasin’ that rainbow

but I ain’t seen the damn sunrise in a while

and the moon keeps hidin’ from me

wish I could go home but there’s been too many miles and there ain’t no home for me

No there ain’t no home for me

No there ain’t no home for me
