he got a girl and she got a kite and they got the big fat world lying right outside their own backyard instead they watch it on television they talk about it then decide that they hate pigeons from their own fat couch and in the meantime days turn to night seasons turn to years years turn to light i read about them in a magazine when i was a little pig-tailed girl running around our own backyard dreaming about the day that i would meet my man and we would ride away beyond those gates but, oh, that day never came and in the meantime days turn to night seasons turn to years years turn to light i got a boy and he got a bike and we got the big fat world lying right outside our own backyard now this daughter of mine is running wild within the corners of our own backyard and in the meantime days turn to night seasons turn to years years turn to light and all the busy bees keep pollinating trees the sun keeps dangling from big fat skies
