Korea: It's Like a Different Country

Here's something funny John Lee said one time

One of the dumbest things I think he's ever said

Like I told you, I'm Korean

I went to Korea for the first time in my life about 15 years ago

Now I told John Lee, I said, "Hey, John Lee, I'm going to Korea"

He says, "God, that's like going to a different country"

Kind of like boldly going, I don't really care buddy

Now I don't speak Korean, not one word at all

That was really weird for me, you know

'Cause Korean people, they'd walk up and start talking to me

You know, I'm like, "How y'all doing?

Get away from me"

And I went with my dad

This is really weird 'cause, you know

Here in Knoxville, when I was growing up, we're the only Asian people

My dad's the only Asian man I'd ever seen before I went to Korea

So, I'd always pick him out of any crowd like that

Well, this reversed me, on me, in Korea

We got the plane, he walked 20 feet away

And I just lost him, just, ah!

I found him like an hour or later

And I'm like, "Dad, don't leave me, man"

"They're talking to me"

The next day in Korea, I'm waiting on a bus, just minding my own business

This American girl walked up

All the Korean people she can pull out of the crowd

She pulls me out of the crowd and goes

"Is this the bussy that goesy downy towny?"

I just looked at her and said, "I reckon so"
