Walking on a tightrope, the circus runs wild I'm standing on the gallows a solitary child Fallen and mangled way back in June Might as well have been chasing the moon The war is a diamond, we're drenched in fear It's gonna be another really hard year The rich men are floating like a child's balloon It all went down while you were chasing the moon Don't drink the water, buyer beware A family unwound in a cloak of despair Another child gunned down on a lazy afternoon While we should have been chasing the moon Postcards of destruction, a hundred years in the making I feel ice cracking like I see hearts breaking Eden is burning, there's another typhoon Might have to go chasing the moon I've let myself go, we're at another dead end My time here on earth I'd like to extend We'll no longer sing this woeful tune If we're strong enough to go chasing the moon
