It sounds great in theory to become a musician or a writer or any of those things you’ve dreamed of over the years

Problem is creativity and anxiety are some strange bedfellows

When the ideas are flowing and the execution is just right

Anxiety and creativity can play nice

But man when things get a little tough forget about it, you might as well find a loose electrical wire, jam it in to your tongue and just keep it there

And don’t even get me started on the travel and the money and the gear. You know how big you have to be to make money at in any of these things? It’s criminal

So what is the dream really?

Is it creating something special, something beautiful, something people live with and remember?

Or is the fame?

Cause if it’s the fame, man, just forget about it right here, right now

When has fame ever been good for anyone?

Being happy isn’t about a big life change everyone thinks this way. If I could change my job to do something I love or live a different way

The real answer is in finding a way to keep your mind engaged, keep your thoughts calm, and stay the right amount of busy

You do that and the rest falls into place

I gotta tell you man, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be this life

I love writing music and I love playing but it’s not easy and not always fun

You lose people. You lose yourself. You lose your friends.

All the confrontations I hate that - I can’t live that way.

And then there are the drugs and alcohol. You lose people. You lose a lot of people.

And then there’s the chasing

Every taste of success begs for more success

It’s not enough, it’s never enough
