Separating reality from my former image of you

Drawing me in like a moth to a flame

The fire in your eyes is nothing but a childlike glimmer

As we drown in our mistakes

My insides scream for an impossible resolve

But this ending was drafted before our first chapter, there was never a happily ever after

Wide-eyed, I ran blindly into a tragedy

Now I pull bits of your shrapnel from inside of me

Fearful for my own recovery

I find my hands clenching tighter than before yours were there to fill them

Wishing that this all could be forgiven

But it isn't all that simple, is it?

Some things are built with failure in the blueprints
