Every string I played was sorely out of tune

But no one seemed to mind until I left the room

Further on the corridor light was shining bright

Went to turn it off but a voice said spend the night

All these lives thrown into the brown water

I don’t say nothin’ much to you

I’d take it back if I needed to

And if the words all come out wrong then so be it

‘Cause I never much liked to chat much anyway

We’re drinking, dancing on the street

I return the cans and I get a fizzy

I take my dog down to the tracks

And I dream that the summertime will never end
