The Farmer

It won’t take long for them to see

That i once was from the same seed

Until the flood came pouring through

It rained for days because of you

The land was dry, scorched and blazed

The cattle were thin, no grass to graze

I've had enough, god damn the sky

Why should a farmer such as i

Die in the dirt just living to work from dust to dust

I had only days to pack up the farm

With a smile on my face as i locked up the barn

You sure showed me, no more disbelief

I am just a man, existence is brief

Consider me beat, broken and tried

But why would you give to only let die?

So i've had enough, god damn the sky

Why should a farmer such as i

Die in the dirt just living to work from dust to dust

I've heard of a seed that grows in the dark

And at the end of its life it shines just one spark

No fancy show, the final bang

It gives all it has before you ever knew it came

Just a glimpse of a thought, a shadow of a dream

But it was the first shade of light that i've ever seen

And i take it for granted but that’s how its goes

The heart of man's got plenty room to grow
