Midnight Train

Then she said, "you wanna stay?"

I was waiting, I said, "OK"

She said we should take it slow

We should wait till we hear the whistle blow

We didn't rush, we didn't fumble

We didn't slip and we didn't stumble

Take is slow, she said again

We gotta catch the midnight train

We did it deep and we did it long

I was ready but she was strong

"Wait", she said, "slow it down

Till we hear that engine blow through town"

Then we heard the rails sing

We heard the crossing bell ring

We heard the whistle blow

"Now", she said, "now we're good to go"

The window rattled and a chair fell over

The headboard hammered and the lights dimmed lower

"Faster", she said, "do it again

Now we're riding the midnight train"

Later she said, "you want to stay?"

I was beat so I said, "OK"

She said, "babe, go take a shower

Cause the train comes back in half an hour"
