Sequoias in the Woods

A quiet call, a silent prayer

A secret floating in the air

The silence is immense

The dusk, the night, the break of dawn

Out of which the day is born

A movement so intense

A song, a sound, a gentle breeze

A nightingale declares the peace

Has come and we are one

The starry night, a willow tree

A whisper from eternity

The journey has begun

A giant birch, a shooting star

A glimpse of everything we are

Sequoias in the woods

A faint idea of what we’d be

If life is spent in unity

As in my neighborhood

A subtle network without peer

More than a thousand million years

Is what has made the “we”

The summer night, a cuckoo’s call

The music of the waterfall

Is here for you and me
