Necklace

if you ever see her walking down main street

looking like she’s lost and abandoned

still wearing the necklace that i gave her

in the midst of a broken summer

 

tell her that i miss her

and that the moon will bring her home

in the early hours

with the sparrows and the dew

in peace

 

if she ever feels like she’s being followed

while going to the places where we once roamed

if she ever shivers ‘cause of a known face

somebody walking by in the distance

 

tell her, that i’m still here

and that soon it will settle down

it might be a lie

but if it’s comfort then it’s good

for peace

 

tell her, that i’m still here

and that soon she will not even care

come a day she will feel the weight

come a day she will have enough

and she will start anew

 

if you ever see her in the next life

don’t mention it to me

i might lose it and break

i resisted all i could

for no peace
