I spent eleven hundred dollars On Amazon.com Buying presents for my brother And my girlfriend and my mom And I know you're not supposed to I know Jeff Bezos is an asshole But I left it late I spent seven shitty hours On a bus to my hometown To meet up with all my friends Who just kind of stuck around They say, "I know you're not supposed To stay where you start" But sometimes you like where you are We met at Lee's apartment His kids were at their mom's And he hadn't decorated yet We helped him put a palm tree up It was an old joke It made us feel young Then we crammed into the kitchen Drinking eggnog spiked with rum Watching cable Christmas specials That we watched when we were young I don't know if I'm supposed to like this Or just like what it reminds me of Sometimes you're fine where you're at Sometimes you like where you land And we piled in Bobby's truck Bobby gunned it down the road We were aiming at the mall Even though the mall was closed Katie had a key She said they just put up the tree It'll be worth it Trust me And there was the perfect song on the radio And every light we hit was green Sometimes these little things Are enough to make you feel like You're right where you're supposed to be We were looking at the lights We were talking about snow I said, "It's only frozen water" Katie looked up from her phone She said just because you can explain it Doesn't mean it's not a miracle
