Suli's House

Let me tell you a little story about the time I went to Suli's house

I went to Suli's house to watch

She had just made a cup of herbal tea

The bag twirling as she pulled it out of a steaming mug

Which she stirred with a knife

She ate a few mouthfuls of cold lentils from a bowl

Using an oriental spoon

Which clicked against her teeth

A punnet of chives grew on top of the fridge

She takes out a tiny bag from out a drawer

Step one: Put a few grains on a spoon

Step two: Add a little water from a syringe and a pinch of sodium bicarbonate

Step three: Heat the spoon. The liquid will become clear

Step four: Put a cigarette filter on the spoon to absorb the fluid

She looks around finds and old one

Relatively clean

Step five: Put the needle in the filter, fill up the syringe

She ties off the arm

You know the rest

She misses once, then hits

A drop of blood in the syringe

I leave soon after

When the bass player of Bad Manners arrives

Give me sharp edges

Give me salts

Wet leaves

The spine

The smell of old butts
